अर्हत वंदना (Arhat Vandana)
ओम णमो अरिहंताणं
ओम णमो सिद्धाणं
ओम णमो आयरियाणं
ओम णमो उवज्झायाणं
णमो लोए सव्व साहूणं
एसो पंच णमोक्कारो, सव्व पावप्पणासणो।
मंगलाणं च सव्वेसिं, पढ़मं हवइ मंगलम॥
जे य बुद्धा अइक्कंता, जे य बुद्धा अणागया।
संती तेसिं पइट्ठाणं, भूयाणं जगई जहा॥
से सुयं च मे, अज्झत्थियं च मे
बंधःपमोक्खो तुज्झ अज्झथेवः
पुरिसा! तुममेव तुमं मित्तं
किं बहिया मित्तमिच्छसि
पुरिसा! अत्ताणमेव अभिणिगिज्झ
एवं दुक्खा पमोक्खसि
पुरिसा! तुमंसि नाम सच्चेवः
जं हंतव्वं ति मन्नसि
सव्वे पाणा ण हंतव्वा
एस धम्मे धुवे णिइए सासए
पुरिसा! सच्चमेव समभिजाणाहि
सच्चं भयवं
सच्चं लोयम्मि सारभूयं
इणमेव णिग्गंथं पावयणं सच्चं
उट्ठिए णो पमाइए
सव्वतो पमत्तस्स भयं
सव्वतो अपमत्तस्स णत्थि भयं
समया धम्म मुदाहरे मुणी
लाभा लाभे सुहे दुक्खे जीविए मरणे तहा
समो निंदा पसंसासु तहा माणावमाणओ
अणिस्सिओ इहं लोए परलोए अणिस्सिओ
वासी चंदणकप्पो य असणे अणसणे तहा
अप्पा कत्ता विकत्ता य दुहाण य सुहाण य
अप्पा मिंत्तममित्तं च दुप्पट्ठिय सुप्पट्ठिओ
अप्पा णई वेयरणी? अप्पा मे कूड़सामली
अप्पा कामदुहा धेणु अप्पा मे नंदणं वणं
जोसहस्सं सहस्साणं संगामे दुज्जए जिणे
एगं जिणेज्ज अप्पाणं एस से परमो जओ
खामेमि सव्वजीवे सव्वे जीवा खमंतु मे
मित्ती मे सव्वभुएसु वेरं मज्झ न केणई
अरहंता मंगलं सिद्धा मंगलं साहू मंगलं
केवलि पण्णत्तो धमो मंगलं
अरहंता लोगुत्तमा सिद्धा लोगुत्तमा साहू लोगुत्तमा
केवलि पण्णत्तो धमो लोगुत्तमो
अरहंते सरणं पवज्जामि सिद्धे सरणं पवज्जामि साहू सरणं पवज्जामि
केवलि पण्णत्तं धम्मं सरणं पवज्जामि
Lets understand the meaning of Arhat Vandana
I bow to the Arhats, the enlightened ones.
I bow to the Siddhas, the liberated ones.
I bow to the Āchāryas, the religious leaders.
I bow to the Upādhyāyas, the religious teachers.
I bow to all the Sādhus, the monks and nuns in the world.
These five great salutations, destroy all our sins.
Amongst all that is auspicious, this is the first and foremost
For all the Arhats of the past,
as well as for all the Arhats to come,
peace is the place of rest;
just as earth is the place of rest for all creatures.
I have heard and experienced,
that both freedom and bondage are within myself.
Oh man! You alone are your friend,
so why then do you search for a friend outside?
Oh man! Discipline yourself;
it is the way to be free from pain.
Oh man! The one whom you intend to kill (harm) is none other than yourself.
No creature in this world should be killed;
this is the eternal, perennial and unchanging law of non-violence.
Oh man! Contemplate on truth and practise it.
Truth is God.
Truth is the essence of all that is.
Only the sermon of the omniscient ones is true sermon.
A person who is aware or disciplined should not fall back in to a state of non-vigilance.
A person who is non-vigilant has many fears.
One who is awakened however has nothing to fear.
The sage proclaims that religion is nothing but equanimity.
One who maintains equanimity in loss or gain, pleasure or pain,
life or death, criticism or praise, honour or disgrace is to be considered as an awakened one.
One who maintains equanimity remains unattached to the comforts of this life or next, remains neutral whether cut by a chisel or salved with sandal paste and whether offered food or having to remain starved.
It is your own soul that is the maker and un-maker of pleasure and pain.
The soul which is involved in good deeds is a friend whilst the soul which is involved in evil deeds is an enemy.
My soul is like the Vaitarnee nadi (hellish river) and Kootshālmali vriksha (hellish tree) as well as like the Kāmadhenu (heavenly cow) and Nandanavan (heavenly garden).
A warrior may conquer a million enemies on the battlefield; but the greater warrior is he who conquers himself.
I forgive all living creatures, may all of them forgive me. I have friendship with all living beings and enmity with none.
The Arhats are auspicious, the Siddhas are auspicious, the Sādhus are auspicious, and the Jain Dharma is auspicious.
The Arhats are supreme, the Siddhas are supreme, the Sādhus are supreme,
and the Jain Dharma is supreme.
I take refuge in the Arhats, I take refuge in the Siddhas, I take refuge in the Sādhus,
and I take refuge in the Jain Dharma.
